PARKS AND RECREATION COMMITTEE <br />SUMMARY , <br />December 6, 1990 <br />1) Treasure Shores Park <br />Brad Smith, Parks Consultant, reviewed the conceptual site <br />plan for Treasure Shores Park. The committee recommended <br />that the gaps in the vegetation along AIA be closed so that <br />no one will be able to gain entrance to the park except <br />through the main entrance road. The committee further <br />recommended that the entrance on the east side of AlA be <br />lined up with the future entrance on the•west side of the <br />road. The committee unanimously approved the conceptual <br />site plan with the changes as noted. <br />2) Blue Cypress Lake Agreement; Firing Range Facility; South <br />County Reqional Park <br />Reports were given on the agreement with Mr. Middleton at <br />Blue Cypress Lake, the firing range facility and on South <br />County Regional Park. The Recreation Director reported on <br />recreation activities. <br />3) The committee recommended that Jim Davis take a look at Dale <br />Wimbrow Park to see what additional space could be used for <br />parking: <br />4) The committee recommended that the Risk Manager be asked to <br />investigate what protection could be taken around the <br />retention ponds at Dale Wimbrow Park so that children will <br />not fall into them. <br />5) The committee will meet every other month in'the future <br />unless the Chairman feels the need to call additional <br />meetings. <br />6) Forestry Supervisor Joe Spataro said the County will be <br />receiving a letter from the Division of Forestry saying that <br />they will not renew their lease on Donald MacDonald Park in <br />June, 1992. Joe is trying to get some grant money to do <br />some major improvements at the park, but due to budget cuts <br />they can't support the park after June, 1992. <br />RNB:aw <br />xc: Jim Davis <br />SEBASTIAN RIVERFRONT COMMITTEE REPORT <br />Commissioner Scurlock, who was appointed as the Board's <br />liaison to the Sebastian Riverfront Committee at the December 5th <br />joint meeting with the Sebastian City Council, reported that he <br />had established with the Committee last night that all requests <br />for services should be made through him to the Board of County <br />��t ,.. <br />1 4 � �',tiCt��� <br />DEC 11 WJ NOOK <br />
