Commissioner Scurlock believed the intent of this is just to <br />support public television and he would be supportive of that. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED <br />by Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously <br />authorized the Chairman to sign and send a <br />letter of support as requested by WPTB2. <br />RESOLUTION RECOMMENDED BY MARINE ADVISORY NARROWS WATERSHED ACTION <br />COMMITTEE ON MOSQUITO CONTROL <br />Commissioner Wheeler emphasized the importance of supporting <br />the Mosquito Control program and keeping funds available for this <br />purpose. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously <br />adopted Resolution No. 91-25 opposing <br />eliminating or weakening Mosquito Control in <br />the Department of Health and Rehabilitative <br />Services. <br />RESOLUTION NO. 91- 25 <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, <br />FLORIDA, OPPOSING ELIMINATING OR WEAKENING <br />MOSQUITO CONTROL IN THE DEPARTMENT OF <br />HEALTH AND REHABILITATIVE SERVICES. <br />WHEREAS, it is reported that the current Administration and <br />the Florida Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services are <br />considering diminishing or eliminating the Mosquito Control programs <br />within Entomology Services; and <br />WHEREAS, the state Mosquito Control is an indispensable <br />asset to the SUBCOMMITTEE ON MANAGED MARSHES (SOMM) and in <br />coordinating the' St. Johns River Water Management District's SWIM salt <br />marsh restoration program; and <br />WHEREAS, without the state Mosquito Control support, the <br />continuing ability of SOMM to function as the leading committee in <br />determining and encouraging optimal salt marsh management practices in <br />the state will be severely jeopardized, a critical loss for the citizens of <br />the STATE OF FLORIDA; and <br />49 <br />E B <br />
