Proclamation - Child Abuse Prevention Month <br />Proclamation designating the Month of April, 1991, as CHILD <br />ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH is hereby made a part of the record. <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING MONTH OF. <br />APRIL, 1991 AS CHII•D <br />ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br />WHEREAS, child abuse and neglect is a serious and <br />growing problem affecting more than two million of our nation's <br />children annually and 3,033 children on the Treasure Coast alone; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, this societal malignancy called child abuse <br />and neglect respects no racial, religious, class or geographic <br />boundaries, and, in fact, has been declared a national emergency; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of <br />Child Abuse of the Treasure Coast, through its support of parent <br />aide programs, parenting classes and educational. programs, is <br />making signif3cant progress in stopping crime against our nation <br />and community's children and famiAles: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the month of <br />April, 1991 by observed as <br />CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br />in Indian River County, and the Board urges all citizens to use <br />this time to better understand, recognize, and respond to this <br />grievous problem; and the Board further congratulates the <br />Exchange Club Center for the Prevention of Child Abuse of the <br />Treasure Coast' for its continued success in helping families <br />break free from the cycle of child abuse. <br />Adopted this 2nd day of April, 1991 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Ri�iq, Chairman <br />3 83 F�a�� 07 <br />APP 2 1991 <br />
