Thompson, P.E ,-<�Jl'-.'I <br />Capital Projects Manager <br />81i <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Approving the Submittal of a <br />Grant Application Under the State of <br />Florida FY 1992/93 Beach Erosion Control <br />Assistance Program <br />DATE: April 5, 1991 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On June 12, 1990, the Board of County Commissioners approved <br />a resolution authorizing the submittal of a grant <br />application under the FY 1991/92 Beach Erosion Control <br />Assistance Program. The application provided for the <br />following improvements: <br />1. Dune maintenance at Wabasso Beach Park. <br />'2. Dune maintenance and walkover at Golden Sands <br />Park. <br />3. Five (5) dune walkovers at Treasure Shores <br />Park. <br />The estimated cost to the State for these improvements is <br />$244,575. (75%) and to the County is $81,525. (25%), for a <br />total estimated cost of $326,100. <br />On August 28, 1990, the Florida Governor and Cabinet <br />approved funding for this project in the FY 1991/92 <br />Department of Natural Resources' (DNR) Fixed Capital Outlay <br />Budget. The DNR has submitted this Capital Outlay Budget to <br />the Florida Legislature for approval. <br />In view of the financial problems being experienced by the <br />State, it is questionable whether or not funds will be made <br />available for: this project in the FY 1991/92 Florida Beach <br />Erosion Control Program. <br />The Division of Beaches and Shores, will be accepting <br />project applications for the FY 1992/93 DNR Fixed Capital <br />Outlay Budget through May 1, 1991. Staff recommends that <br />the County resubmit the attached updated application for <br />consideration in the DNR's FY 1992/93 budget. This action <br />will ensure legislative funding consideration for FY 1992/93 <br />if funding is not made available in FY.1991/92. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends that the Board adopt the attached <br />resolution, authorizing the submittal of an application <br />under the State Florida Beach Erosion Control Assistance <br />Program for the purpose of requesting State financial <br />assistance. <br />Funding to be from Account ff001-210-572-033.13. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Eggert, the Board unanimously adopted <br />Resolution No. 91-47, approving the Submittal of an <br />Application under the State of Florida Beach Erosion <br />Control Assistance Programs. <br />60 <br />
