accidents, or the like, or when work has been resumed after being stopped by the <br />County because of unsatisfactory materials, equipment, or performance. Payment for <br />Mobilization shall be Lump Sum for the project. <br />b. Reclaimed Asphalt Base, in place and accepted, shall be paid for at the contract unit <br />price per square meter or square yard, as indicated in the Bid Sheet. The area of work <br />for the purpose of payment shall be the overall length of each reclaimed lane times the <br />specified total base width for the lane. The total base width shall include the widening <br />width, if any, in which the reclaimer is to be used to blend new base material with the <br />pulverized layers. Payment under this item shall be full compensation for all work <br />included in or incidental to the reclaiming operation, for the grading, shaping, and <br />compacting of the Reclaimed Asphalt Base, for the mix design study, for furnishing, <br />delivering, and applying water, for applying and mixing and furnishing asphalt emulsion <br />or other stabilizing agent as specified, and for all other work and material incidental to <br />the reclaiming operation. <br />Completed Base Course Testing — The Contractor shall perform a minimum of 8 tests <br />of the completed base course to verify that the completed base course meets the <br />specified minimum Structural Number of 1.8. Test locations shall be determined by the <br />County. In the event that the minimum Structural Number is not achieved, the County <br />may require corrective action, including the placement of additional asphalt structural <br />course at the expense of the Contractor. <br />c. Payment for Granular base material is included in the cost of the Reclaimed Asphalt <br />Base. The Contractor shall determine how much if any granular base is required and <br />shall include the cost for granular base in the cost of the Reclaimed asphalt base. <br />d. Asphalt Emulsion type CSS -1 h shall be uniformly incorporated in the layer at the <br />rate specified by the Mix Design. Payment is in gallons of Asphalt Emulsion Type CSS - <br />1 h. <br />e. Manholes: Each manhole shall be protected during the reclamation process. After <br />final pass of reclaimer and final compaction, manholes shall be adjusted to the <br />appropriate height to accommodate the asphalt overlay finish grade. <br />f. Water Shutoffs: Water shutoffs and other valves or shutoffs shall be protected during <br />the reclamation process. After final pass of reclaimer and final compaction, water <br />shutoffs and other valves and shutoffs shall be adjusted to the appropriate height to <br />accommodate the asphalt overlay finish grade. <br />g. Material/Removal: Material shall be removed from the roadway area in order to <br />prepare for a desired final grade or removal of unsuitable material. Approximately 2- <br />1/2" removal shall be required off the top after initial pulverization.
