PROCLAMATION <br />!( Commemorating the 100'" Anniversary of the National Exchange Club <br />WHEREAS, family, community and nation are important core values in the lives of Americans; and <br />WHEREAS, Exchange Clubs have been serving communities throughout the United States for 100 <br />years, the first Exchange Club having been formed in Detroit, Michigan in 1911, and <br />WHEREAS, the National Exchange Club is celebrating its 100th anniversary serving our <br />communities, and <br />WHEREAS, the National Exchange Club, a strictly American organization, is a group of volunteers <br />unselfishly working together to make our community a better place to live through programs of <br />service in Americanism, community service, youth activities, and its national project, the prevention <br />of child abuse, and <br />WHEREAS, five Exchange Clubs in Indian River County (Fellsmere, Indian River, Sebastian, <br />Treasure- Coast, and Vero Beach Exchange Clubs) are all affiliated with the National- Exchange Club <br />and provide significant and invaluable contributions to the citizens of Indian River County; and <br />WHEREAS, experience teaches us that government by itself cannot solve. all of our nation's social <br />problems, and that volunteers are vital to our future as a caring and productive city, state and nation, <br />`IOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, <br />.JDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board commemorates the 100th Anniversary of the <br />National Exchange Club, and <br />BE IT FURTHER PROCLAIMED, THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER <br />COUNTY, FLORIDA that March 27, 2011 be recognized as National Exchange Club Day and <br />urges the citizens of Indian River County.to recognize the past and ongoing contributions of the <br />National Exchange Club and to support their local Exchange Clubs. <br />Adopted this 15th day of March, 2011.
