CONSENT AGENDA <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br /> AGENDA ITEM <br /> Assistant County Administrator/ <br /> Department of General Services <br /> Date: September 30, 2013 <br /> To: The Honorable Board of County Commissioners <br /> Thru: Joseph A. Baird, County Administrator <br /> From: Michael C. Zito, Assistant County Administrator <br /> Subject: Approval of Renewal Agreement with Sheriffs Office for Use of the Indian River <br /> County Public Shooting Range <br /> DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS: <br /> On May 24` , 2011, the Sheriff entered into an Agreement with the County to utilize the Indian River <br /> County Shooting Range for officer training. The Agreement allows the Sheriff exclusive use of the Range <br /> on Tuesdays and Wednesdays throughout the year in exchange for a payment of$10,000 annually. The <br /> Agreement expired on September 30, 2013. The parties now seek to renew the Agreement under the same <br /> terms. The annual payment for fiscal year 2013/14 will be immediately due and payable and retroactively <br /> applied for usage from October 1, 2013 through September 30, 2014. The Agreement requires the Sheriff <br /> to pay the annual $10,000 payment at beginning of each fiscal year through fiscal year through 2015/16. It <br /> further allows an exception to the unlimited use provision for tournaments and public events at the Range <br /> provided that the County provides 30 days notice of a conflicting event. <br /> ANALYSIS: <br /> The mutual advantage of the proposed agreement allows the Sheriff to utilize the Range as needed while <br /> guaranteeing an annual payment of$10,000 to the Range at the beginning of each fiscal year. <br /> The attached Agreement memorializes the proposal as mutually beneficial to the parties and is permitted <br /> under Concessionaire Contract between the County and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation <br /> Commission, <br /> FUNDING: <br /> The $10,000 will be deposited into the MSTU funds to offset Shooting Range expenses: <br /> Shooting Range/Service Charges/Range Rental J#004034- 347510 <br /> RECOMMENDATION: <br /> Staff recommends that the Board of County Commission approve and authorize the Chairman to sign the <br /> attached Agreement between the County and the Sheriff's Office. <br /> ATTACHMENTS: <br /> Agreement between the Indian River County Sheriff's Office and the Board of County Commissioners. <br /> Approved Agenda Item <br /> Indian River County AWroved Date <br /> By: Administration 4:) <br /> oseph X.
