Keith McCully, P.E., Stormwater Engineer 0 <br /> SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH VAN ERT, NEMOTO <br /> AND ASSOCIATES, LLC TO PERFORM RESEARCH AND ASSIST THE <br /> COUNTY IN VARIOUS STORMWATER TREATMENT RELATED <br /> EFFORTS AT EGRET MARSH STORMWATER PARK <br /> DATE: February 19, 2013 <br /> DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br /> The purpose of this Agenda Item is to request the County Commission approve a <br /> license agreement with Van Ert Nemoto and Associates (VEN), LLC for partnership at <br /> Egret Marsh Stormwater Park (Egret Marsh) to perform various research and testing <br /> activities on native aquatic plant species; assist the County with bagging and marketing <br /> algal compost product; and assist the County in fine tuning Egret Marsh's operations <br /> with respect to algae productivity during the dry season. VEN's president, Mr. Matthew <br /> Van Ert, PhD., recently performed research on Egret Marsh's algae for the Norwegian <br /> based oil company Statoil, investigating the algae's potential for biodiesel fuel <br /> production. The research and other work performed under the License Agreement will <br /> directly benefit the County and the Indian River Lagoon, enabling the County to remain <br /> a leader in innovative stormwater treatment and pollution removal technology.
