PROCLAMATION <br /> DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF APRIL, 2013 <br /> AS CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br /> WHEREAS, for more than a century, Children's Home Society of Florida has upheld our legacy of <br /> protecting the lives of abused children and families; and <br /> WHEREAS, every 42 seconds a child suffers from abuse and neglect and Children's Home <br /> Society of Florida is here to change the story for a child in our community; and <br /> WHEREAS, Children's Home Society of Florida, Treasure Coast Division, works diligently with <br /> United For Families and the Department of Children and Families to ensure that every child suffering from <br /> abuse has a brighter future and hope for a safe life; and <br /> WHEREAS, children who have suffered abuse or neglect are at least 25 percent more likely to <br /> experience problems such as delinquency, teen pregnancy, low academic achievement, drug use and mental <br /> health problems; and <br /> WHEREAS, Children's Home Society of Florida, along with its community partners, embraces <br /> opportunities that can potentially change the way society cares for children and youth. Act now to protect <br /> children in Indian River County. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF <br /> COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that the month of April, 2013, be designated as <br /> Nl� NATIONAL CHILD ABUSE PREVENTION MONTH <br /> in Indian River County.
