PROCLAMATION <br /> DESIGNATING APRIL 9, 2013 AS <br /> INDIAN RIVER GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY DAY <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society is currently celebrating its 30th Anniversary <br /> as an organization that furthers genealogical research and promotes interest in family and local <br /> history and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society provides hundreds of lectures, workshops, <br /> and seminars educating the public in family history and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society has published such works as the Indian <br /> River County Postcard History and provided talks to numerous civic and faith organizations on <br /> historical Indian River County and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society has helped preserve the legacy of local <br /> veterans by researching, organizing, documenting and articulating the story of the men honored on <br /> Veterans Memorial Island Sanctuary and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society placed 4th in the nation for a group of its <br /> size in overall production indexing the 1940 Federal Census and; <br /> WHEREAS, the Indian River Genealogical Society has consistently assisted and supported <br /> Julian W. Lowenstein Archive Center and Genealogy Department at the Indian River County <br /> ain Library with volunteers, assistance, books, and equipment. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br /> COMMISSIONERS, INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Board designates April 9, 2013 as <br /> Indian River Genealogical Society Day and hereby congratulates the Society on its work and <br /> success in Indian River County over the past 30 years. <br /> Adopted this 2"d day of April, 2013.
