5Q <br /> FF1 <br /> PROCLAMATION <br /> DESIGNATING THE MONTH OF MAY AS <br /> FOSTER PARENT APPRECIATION MONTH <br /> WHEREAS, the family, serving as the primary source of love, identity, self-esteem and support, is the <br /> very foundation of our communities and our State; and <br /> WHEREAS, all young people in foster care need a meaningful connection to a caring adult who <br /> becomes a supportive and lasting presence in their lives, and <br /> WHEREAS, dedicated foster families frequently adopt foster children, resulting in a greater need for <br /> more foster families; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hibiscus Children's Center has been saving children for over 25 years on the <br /> Treasure Coast and Okeechobee County and serves over 100 foster families annually; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hibiscus Children's Center provides prevention, intervention and recovery services <br /> and programs to abused and neglected children and help's to strengthen families; and <br /> WHEREAS, since 2001, the mission of the Hibiscus Children's Center Foster Parent Program is to <br /> recruit, train, license and re-license foster families on the Treasure Coast and Okeechobee County; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Hibiscus Children's Center provides critical support to these foster families who have <br /> committed to giving abused and neglected children a safe and loving home. <br /> NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS OF <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that the Month of May be observed in Indian River County as Foster <br /> Parent Appreciation Month. <br /> Adopted this 7t" day of May, 2013. <br /> BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS, <br /> INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br /> J eFlescher, C airman <br /> .
