$5,000 Disability Exemption for Ex-Service Member <br /> Who is eligible? <br /> An ex-service member disabled at least 10% in war or by service-connected misfortune may be entitled to <br /> a$5,000 exemption on any property owned by the ex-service member. <br /> The un-remarried surviving spouse of such a disabled ex-service member who, on the date of the <br /> disabled ex-service member's death, had been married to the disabled ex-service member for at least 5 <br /> years is also entitled to the exemption. <br /> You will need to provide proof of the following: <br /> • Florida residency <br /> • Honorable discharge <br /> • A certificate of disability from: <br /> o The United States Government; OR <br /> o The United States Department of Veterans Affairs of the county wherein the ex- <br /> service member's property lies. <br /> Information provided on this page is a synopsis and should serve as a guideline offered to assist the general public. <br /> For detailed information please refer to the Florida Constitution(applicable Amendments)and the Florida State Statutes. <br />
