w„ <br /> $500 Widow's and Widower's Exemption <br /> Who is Eligible? <br /> Any widow or widower who is a bona fide Florida resident and property owner may claim this exemption. <br /> Upon remarriage,the widow or widower is ineligible for the exemption. The term"widow"shall apply to a <br /> woman,and the term "widower"shall apply to a man,whose subsequent remarriage is terminated by <br /> annulment. <br /> This exemption does not apply to: <br /> • A divorced woman or man <br /> • A widow or widower who remarries;OR <br /> • A widow or widower who remarries and is subsequently divorced <br /> If your spouse dies after January 1,the widow's exemption will be applied for the following year. It should <br /> `r. be noted that the exemption is for$500 of assessed value.
