Brown l "" <br />Director, Management & udgel <br />BACKGROUND <br />For the past twenty-two fiscal years, Indian River County has been allocated grant funds from <br />the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to fund local anti-drug abuse programs. <br />The County received a letter dated May 24, 2013 from the Florida Department of Law <br />(W Enforcement (FDLE) stating that Indian River County has been allocated $68,509 in federal <br />grant funds for FY 2013/2014 to fund local anti-drug abuse programs. This amount is a decrease <br />from the current fiscal year when Indian River County received $71,497 in federal funds. The <br />letter also requested that the Board serve as the coordinating unit of government in applying for <br />the funds. <br />At the commission meeting on June 11, 2013, the Board accepted the invitation to serve as the <br />coordinating unit of government and named Jason E. Brown, Director of Management & Budget, <br />as the contact person. <br />For the current fiscal year (2012/2013), Indian River County was allocated $71,497 in federal <br />grant funds, with no match requirement. Likewise, the fiscal year 2013/2014 grant amount of <br />$68,509 will not carry a match requirement. The two programs currently funded are the <br />Substance Awareness Council Drug Testing Program and the Multi -Agency Drug Enforcement <br />Unit (M.A.C.E.). <br />120 <br />
