Fitzgeralds 1= <br />Senior Planner, Long -Range Planning <br />DATE: <br />June 7, 1991 <br />RE: REQUEST FOR APPROVAL OF THE OVERALL ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT <br />PLAN (OEDP) 1990/1991 ANNUAL REPORT <br />.It is requested that the information herein presented be given" <br />-formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners at their <br />regular meeting to be held on June 18, 1991. <br />DESCRIPTION.& CONDITIONS <br />t •`I <br />Consistent with Economic Development Administration (EDA) <br />regulations, the staff has prepared the 1990/1991 OEDP report. <br />This report is essentially a status and evaluation report of the <br />OEDP. A copy is attached to this agenda item. <br />This Annual Report is required in order for Indian River County to <br />maintain its "redevelopment area" status and its eligibility to <br />apply for federal technical assistance funds. <br />The Annual OEDP Report includes the following items and is <br />basically a summary of the revised adopted Economic Development <br />Element of the county's Comprehensive Plan. <br />1. A review of past year's accomplishments; <br />2. Report on any significant changes in the economy and its <br />development potentials; and <br />3. An'update of the county's development policies and <br />courses..of action planned for the coming two years. This <br />includes any projects that may require EDA financial <br />assistance. <br />The Economic Development Council and the Overall Economic <br />Development Plan Committee endorsed the Annual Report with minor - <br />revisions on May 28th, 1991. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />The staff recommends that the Board of County Commissioners approve <br />the 1990/1991 Annual OEDP Report and direct staff to transmit the <br />report to EDA. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Eggert, SECOND7the <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously <br />Commissioner Wheeler being absent) approve1990-1991 Annual OEDP Report and directed st <br />transmit the report to Economic Development <br />Administration, as recommended by staff. <br />COPY -OF REPORT IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF <br />CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />9 <br />t,UN 18 1991 <br />
