NORTH BEACHES A1A WATER LINE PROJ - CHANGE ORDER #1 8 FINAL PAY <br />The Board reviewed memo from Engineer McCain, as follows: <br />DATE: SEPTEMBER 17, 1991 <br />TO: JAMES E. McCAIN <br />AND STAFFED CAPITAL PROJECTS GINEER <br />BY: DEPARTMENT OF UTILITY SERVICES <br />SUBJECT: NORTH BEACHES A -1-A WATER LINE ASSESSMENT PROJECT <br />CHANGE ORDER NO. 1 AND FINAL PAY REQUEST <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY PROJECT NO. UW -89=12 -DS <br />BACKGROUND . <br />On April 16, 1991, the Indian River County Board of County <br />Commissioners approved the aforementioned project (Resolution No. 3), <br />at a total assessed cost of $235,864.00. The contract was awarded to <br />G. E. French Construction on May.7, 1991, in the amount of $138,715.50. <br />The project is now complete and we are requesting approval of a final <br />quantity adjustment change order and approval of their final pay <br />request. <br />ANALYSIS <br />The original contract amount with G. E. French Construction was <br />$138,715.50. Due ._to some minor changes in field conditions (i.e., <br />additional driveways, new swales, etc.), we had to make various changes <br />in the project design during construction, which have necessitated a <br />change order (see the attached Change Order No. 1). The total increase <br />in the contract amount is $4,920.71, which equates to a 3.5% increase, <br />or a new total construction cost of $143,636.21, which we feel is <br />acceptable. The entire project came in + 4'0% under the preliminary <br />assessment amount. This reduction was primarily due to poor economic <br />conditions at the time of bid. Attached please find the contractor's <br />final pay request in the amount of $34,400.87 and the above -referenced <br />change order for the Board of County Commissioners' approval. <br />The staff of the Department of- Utility Services recommends that the <br />Board of County Commissioners approve the attached Change Order No. 1 <br />and the contractor's final pay request. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by Com- <br />missioner Eggert, the Board unanimously approved <br />Change Order No. 1 wi.th G.
