Board of County Commissioners in and for Indian River CoUntyj Florida, met at <br />the Court House in Vero Beach, at 2s00 o'clock P.Y.Monday, October 17th 19321, with the <br />following members of the Board present: Albert 0. Helseth, Chairman; J.D.Yongue; J.W. <br />truce; J.J.P.HAmilton and Eli C. Walker. Also present were Riles Warren, Clerk and <br />Clark S. Rice, Sheriff. <br />It was -ordered that Tax Salm Certificate #626 was of July 4th 1927, be sold for <br />the sum of $51.52 including costs and fees. <br />Gus A _Tomlinson, Attorney, appeared before the Board and submitted an offer to pay <br />the am of $6,000.00 face value of at. Lucie County, Florida, bonds and the balance in <br />sash in full settlement of claims against the bond of G.R.Olmstead, as Taxc Collector, <br />for alleged shortage of $159847.59 as appears from the report of the State .Auditor. <br />This Board having instructed their attorney to make formal demand on G,R.Olmstead <br />and his surety for the alleged shortage, as shown by State Auditor's report, it was <br />moved by Commissioner LaBruoe, that this proposition be accepted as made by Rr.Tomlinson, <br />and reoeipt_be given G.R.Olmstead and his bondsmen for $60000.00 St.Lucie County,Florida, <br />bonds <br />and $9,847.59 in <br />cash being <br />settlement of <br />amounts <br />unaccounted for as shown by <br />State <br />Auditor's report <br />of October <br />2nd 1932 (or <br />the date <br />Olmstead retired from the office <br />of Tax Collector). Which motion was seconded by Commissioner Walker, and upon being put <br />to a vote the same stood: Yea Commissioners LeBrooe and Walker. Nays: Commissioners <br />Yongue.and In Helseth. Also present was Riles Marren, Clerk. <br />The question of a motion offered by Commissioner LaBrace, and which was not carried, <br />for the reason the vote was a tie, on Monday October 17th 1932 again came before the <br />Board, and Commissioner LeBrace moved the adoption of said motion, which was seconded bat <br />Commissioner Walker and upon being put to a vote, said vote stood: Yea: Commissioners <br />aBruce; Walker and Hamilton. Bays: Commissioners Yongue and Helseth. So the motion <br />was declared adopted. <br />Commissioner Yongue then offered the following resolution: <br />WHZREAS, former Ta c Colleeter,, G.R.Olmstead, is short -in --his accounts to the extent <br />of $43,876.679 as follows: <br />ProZen in. Fanners Bank Jan..+32-..,.........$27,8 6.69 <br />January 111, 1932 .......................5,988.47 <br />September 7th 1932... ........;...........-. 71,380.99 <br />October 2nd 1932..*..** 2,662.02 <br />AND WHERfflkiS this Board has been offered $69000.00 in bonds of St Lucie County at <br />par, which bonds it appears are actually worth about $3,300.00; <br />THEREPOIN, BE IT BRSOLVED: That this Board will accept said bonds for credit on <br />said shortage and for credit on the $209000.00 liability of the Columbia Casualty Co., <br />
