DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />During late 1991, staff from the Department of Emergency Services and <br />the County Attorney's Office prepared a draft Interlocal Agreement <br />for Mutual Aid and forwarded it to Brevard County for consideration. <br />The agreement was acceptable to Brevard County and the Chairman of <br />the Board of County Commissioners executed the document on December <br />17, 1991. The executed document was received by the Department of <br />Emergency Services on January 8, 1992 and it is now before the Board <br />for consideration. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The Florida Interlocal Cooperation Act of 19690, Section 163.01, <br />Florida Statutes, permits local government units to cooperate with <br />other local governments on a basis of mutual advantage. In this <br />agreement,, the parties agree to provide fire and rescue services, <br />emergency medical treatment, and emergency management services for <br />the health, safety, and welfare of their respective citizens. <br />Staff feels the issues relating to method of requesting assistance, <br />number of units responding, liability, costs, and on scene <br />coordination have been adequately addressed in the mutual aid <br />agreement and requests Board approval. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of the Interlocal Agreement and requests <br />the Board authorize the Chairman to execute the agreement. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Wheeler, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously approved <br />the Interlocal Agreement and authorized the Chairman's <br />signature, as recommended by staff. <br />AGREEMENT IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />APPROVAL OF FUNDING FOR INSURANCE COVERAGE FOR VOLUNTEER FIRE AND <br />EMS FUND RAISING EVENTS <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 1/17/92: <br />TO: u-Board,of County Commissioners <br />Board.of Fire Commissioners <br />North County Fire District <br />South County Fire District <br />THROUGH: James C.
