The county obtained an appraisal by Peter Armfield in 1987 <br />indicating a $16,537 value or $2.25 per square foot for a 35 foot <br />wide right-of-way parcel. <br />George Collins represents the property owner and his client is <br />willing to sell a 25 foot wide parcel to Indian River County at <br />$2.26 per square foot or $11,860.75. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The parcel has increased in value since the appraisal date. The <br />lessor width parcel can be purchased now in lieu of additional <br />appraisal costs or attorney's fees. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />1) Staff recommends the Board authorize the purchase of the 25 foot <br />by 210 foot strip not to exceed $11,860.75 or $2.26 per square <br />foot; AND 2) Authorize wall construction by owners before county <br />road construction begins.
