FEB .9 <br />BOOK <br />1 ! �. <br />Ua r, - <br />Chairman Eggert questioned the damage costs, and General <br />Services Director Sonny Dean explained that during salvaging <br />operations, some unauthorized persons caused damage to some ceiling <br />areas that contained asbestos. The material fell to the carpeted <br />floor causing contamination, and the carpet has to be disposed of <br />in the same manner as the other materials containing asbestos. <br />Chairman Eggert also questioned the removal of the vinyl <br />flooring because she understood that is not required in some areas <br />of the country, but Director Dean confirmed that we are being <br />required to include the vinyl flooring. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bowman, the Board unanimously approved <br />Change Order No. 1 in the amount of $17,749.75 to the <br />contract with Kimmins Abatement Corp., Inc., as <br />set out in the above staff recommendation. <br />CHANGE ORDER #1 ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF THE CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />N. Surplus Property - Drive -up Banking Facility <br />The Board reviewed the following memo dated 2/3/92: <br />DATE: FEBRUARY 3, 1992 <br />TO: HONORABLE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />THRU: JAMES E. CHANDLER <br />COUNTY, ADMINISTRATOR <br />FROM: H.T. "SONNY" DEAN, DIRECT <br />DEPARTMENT OF GENERAL SERVICE <br />SUBJECT: SURPLUS PROPERTY - DRIVE -UP BANKING FACILITY <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The County purchased a Drive -up banking facility which was located on <br />property that will be used for the new courthouse project. This <br />facility is scheduled for demolition early this month. The equipment <br />in this facility was advertised for sale over a two week period. We <br />did not receive any bids. <br />The Indian .River Federal Credit Union has requested that the <br />equipment be donated to them for use in serving credit union <br />customers. They will be responsible for removal without cost to the <br />County. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS: <br />Staff recommends approval of the request with the understanding that <br />the County will not be responsible for the condition of said <br />equipment or any cost associated with removal and installation. <br />16 <br />
