r ® � <br />TO: Board -of County Commissioners <br />THROUGH: Doug Wright, Director`= <br />Department of Emergd cy Services <br />FROM: Jim Judge, Chief <br />Emergency Medical �rvices <br />DATE: February 10, 1992 <br />SUBJECT: Approval of FY 91-92 EMS Grant Modification to <br />Purchase Additional Equipment with Surplus Funds <br />and Budget Amendment No. 015 <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein <br />be given formal consideration by the Board of County Commissioners <br />at the next regular scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The Department of Health and Rehabilitative Services, Office of <br />Emergency Medical Services (EMS), is authorized by Chapter 401, <br />part II, Florida Statutes, to distribute county awards funds •in the <br />form of a grant to counties. In fiscal year 91-92, Indian River <br />County received $29,103.16 in grant funds and on September 17, <br />1991, the Board of County Commissioners approved certain items for <br />purchase utilizing these funds to improve and expand the EMS <br />service. <br />Due to competitive bidding,not purchasing some items, and other <br />factors, most of the equipment authorized by the Board was <br />purchased and placed into service at a price less than anticipated. <br />This resulted in a reserve or surplus of funds in the amount of <br />$2,135.00.
