PROCLAMATION DESIGNATING APRIL 20 TO APRIL 25, 1992 AS HURRICANE <br />WEEK IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Scurlock, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Bird, the Board unanimously proclaimed <br />April 20 to April 25, 1992 as Hurricane Week in <br />Indian River County. <br />P R O C L A M A T I O N <br />DESIGNATING APRIL 20 TO APRIL 25, 1992 <br />AS HIJRRICANE WEEK IN INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />WHEREAS, Hurricane season begins June 1, 1992 and Indian <br />River County is extremely vulnerable to tropical disturbances <br />because of our coastal location; and <br />WHEREAS, hurricane experts state that Florida is well <br />overdue for a large scale hurricane; and <br />WHEREAS, over 50% of the residents in Florida have never <br />experienced any type of tropical disturbance; and <br />WHEREAS, 'there is a need for education, planning, response <br />and recovery when dealing with tropical disturbances; and <br />11 <br />WHEREAS, educating the public on necessary preparedness <br />during tropical disturbances will allow the public a chance to <br />learn procedures followed by government when a storm is <br />approaching Indian River County; and <br />WIiEREAS, in an effort to better educate the public and <br />overcome apathy of residents when preparing for tropical <br />disturbances, the Division of Emergency Management is beginning <br />an all out campaign to disseminate preparedness information to <br />all residents: <br />NOW, THEREFORE, RF IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY <br />COMMISSIONERS OF INDIAN RIVER COItN7'Y, FLORIDA that the week of <br />April 20 to April 25, 1992 be designated as <br />HURRICANE WEEK <br />in Indian River County, and the Board urges all citizens in this <br />County to avail themselves of the opportunity to become educated <br />on proper tropical disturbance preparedness. <br />Adopted this 14th day of April, 1992. <br />3 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Caroly K.
