Public Buildings <br /> Public buildings impact fees are used to fund the land purchases and capital construction <br /> and expansion of facilities and capital equipment required to support the additional <br /> government service demand created by growth. <br /> There are several major elements associated with the development of the administrative <br /> facilities impact fee. These include: <br /> • Facility Inventory <br /> • Service Area and Population <br /> Level-of-Service <br /> • Cost Component <br /> • Credit Component <br /> • Net Public Buildings Impact Cost <br /> • Calculated Public Buildings Impact Fee Schedule <br /> Affordable Growth Strategy <br /> • Staff Recommended Fee Rate <br /> Public Buildings Impact Fee Schedule Comparison <br /> Facility Inventory <br /> The public facilities inventory includes facilities that are primarily for the provision of <br /> essential county services and do not include any of the buildings included in the calculation <br /> of other impact fees. <br /> According to information provided by Indian River County, the County has approximately <br /> 565,000 square feet of general public facility space. This includes the square footage of <br /> both primary and support buildings. Support facilities are defined as trailers, facilities <br /> without air-conditioning, or facilities that are unlikely to be occupied by personnel. <br /> Table IV-1 shows a summary of the public buildings inventory and the current value of <br /> buildings and land.
