-I <br />MAY 2 199 e�oK .UEP. <br />3) With regard to the area around St. Edward's School and north <br />of the Moorings and Martin Coves, the recommendations that have <br />been received actually make a lot of sense. Mr. Rose stated that <br />he has had a chance to review some of the data and felt that they <br />probably could meet the majority of what MANWAC is asking. He <br />believed that by a little reconfiguration of those lines they can <br />accommodate most of the concern that has been expressed. <br />4) Rather than say they are opposed to leaving all residential <br />canals open to public access even at idle speeds, he preferred to <br />say there will be positive benefit to having these small areas, <br />such as Vero Shores, as limited entry areas. They have not seen <br />the information that would change their minds on that. <br />5) The small area of dredging is a little bit independent of their <br />project, but they will work with all related parties on that to try <br />to solve the problem that exists in the St. Sebastian River in the <br />shoals. They will stand ready to try to work with the appropriate <br />agencies, whether it be FIND, the water management districts or the <br />DER, to see what can be done to facilitate boats being able to move <br />through there. <br />Chairman Eggert opened the discussion to the public and asked <br />if anyone wished to be heard in this matter. <br />Bill Moody, 6315 43rd Avenue, avid boating and water skiing <br />enthusiast and a member of the Marine Advisory Committee, stressed <br />that the Governor and Cabinet instructed the DNR to go out and work <br />with each county to develop a plan; they did not instruct the DNR <br />to develop the plan themselves. This county did develop a good <br />plan last year, and it was the Committee's position that they <br />wanted something that was simplistic and enforceable and one that <br />attained the goal of protecting the manatee without taking away <br />44 <br />
