ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />Alternative No. 1 <br />yi <br />BOOK PA;E i <br />The Board of County Commissioners refuse to Authorize <br />this 5k race and it will not be held. <br />Alternative No. 2 <br />The Board of County Commissioners approve this request <br />subject to the following conditions: <br />a) Hold Harmless Insurance Documents carrying Indian <br />River County, Florida Department of <br />Transportation, the City of Vero Beach be <br />delivered to the County Traffic Engineer prior to <br />issuance of the required permit. <br />b) The course of the race be run in accordance with <br />the route as specified by the Jungle Club, namely <br />start at the Jungle Club north on 6th Avenue to <br />17th Street (SR 656), then east along the south <br />side of eastbound 17th Street to Indian River <br />Boulevard, thence south to 8th Street along the <br />west side of Indian River Boulevard, thence on 8th <br />Street to 6th Avenue, then north to the finish <br />line at the Jungle Club. <br />c:) Proper Uniformed Deputy Vehicular control of the <br />racers be adopted and provided for by the Jungle <br />Club. (As directed by the Sherif fs Department <br />and the County Traffic Engineer. <br />d) All required roadway and race permits will be <br />secured. <br />e) Barricades, etc. will be secured from and returned <br />to the Traffic Engineering Division by the Jungle <br />Club. <br />RECOMMENDATIONS AND FUNDING <br />Staff recommends Alternative No. 2 be adopted by the Board <br />of County Commissioners. <br />There will be no direct cost to the County if this <br />alternative is approved except for the minimal time required <br />of the County Traffic Engineer in assuring the proper <br />permits are secured. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bowman, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously <br />approved the request for the 5K road race for the <br />benefit of the March of Dimes fund as set out in <br />staff's recommended Alternative No. 2. <br />30 <br />
