Comprehensive Plan <br />Economic Development Element <br />The Board of County Commissioners has flexibility to grant special incentives on a case by case <br />basis, based on job creation, wage levels and increased property taxes. Incentives could include <br />the purchase or lease of land, infrastructure improvements, payment or financing of county <br />impact fees, or cash incentives. <br />In addition to incentives offered by the Board of County Commissioners, there are incentive <br />programs offered by Workf4ee Solutions CareerSource Research Coast that can be accessed by <br />employers relocating to the county or existing employers within the county that are expanding. <br />Those incentive programs are as follows: <br />o Local Training/Grant Assistance <br />Wer-l(for e Solutions CareerSource Research Coast will provide on-the-job training tefor <br />employers to offset the costs associated with new hires. The Grant serves as a cost effective way <br />for local employers to hire quality applicants by reimbursing up to 50% of the employee's salary <br />during their training period. <br />o Employed Worker Training Grants <br />T'orkforEe Solutions CareerSource Research Coast will provide grants to reimburse employers <br />for up to 50% of direct training costs to train current employees in new skills that may lead to <br />greater productivity. The employer chooses the training that meets company needs. Grants may <br />be accessed through CareerSource Research Coast. <br />o Recruitment/Assessment Services <br />At no cost, WeFlEforee Solutions CareerSource Research Coast will assist businesses in finding <br />qualified candidates who are trained and equipped with the right skills to fill their positions. <br />Professional Recruiters efficiently recruit, screen and refer only qualified applicants to open <br />positions. <br />Indian River Countv/City of Vero Beach Enterprise AreaZone <br />In 2005, Irian River County and the City of Vere Qeucl: jointl,+a' an Ern Cf riSO Zane <br />ends propc-rtics in and ar <br />within the Gi ff rd Community 'sea re&-,) In 2005, the Florida Legislature approved a ioint <br />application from Indian River Countv and the Citv of Vero Beach to establish an Enterprise Zone, <br />(EZ). The EZ encompassed properties in and around the Vero Beach Reeional Airport and the <br />adjacent Gifford communitv. An Enterprise Zone +was an area designation approved by the state to <br />encourage new economic growth and investment in distressed areas.
