Mora, P.E., Public Works DirectoCrvt— <br />r <br />FROM: Monique Filipiak, Land Acquisition Specialist <br />SUBJECT: Extension for Closing on Agreement for Purchase of 2625 54th Street <br />DATE: April 11, 2016 <br />E <br />CONSENT <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On November 10, 2015, the Board approved an Agreement to Purchase, Sell, and <br />Lease Real Estate (Agreement) to purchase a single family home located at 2625 54th <br />Avenue owned by Lisa and Michael Giessert. The property is located at the northwest <br />corner of 54th Avenue and 26th Street. The County has the property under contract to <br />obtain right-of-way necessary for improvements to 26th Street. The Agreement called for <br />the Giesserts and the County to close on the purchase six months after Board approval <br />of the Agreement. The projected closing date is May 10, 2016. <br />Mrs. Giessert recently contacted staff and asked for a 90 day extension to close on the <br />property. The Giesserts are in the process of building a new house and it will not be <br />ready until August 1, 2016, hence the request to delay closing 90 days. The County is <br />not Incurring any costs as a result of having the house under contract and any extension <br />of the closing date will not result in any costs to the County. Staff has no objection to the <br />extension. <br />FUNDING <br />Thele is no funding associated with this matter. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />The <br />Board's options include the following: <br />Alternative 1: Approve the 90 day extension of the closing date. <br />Alternative 2: Reject the request to extend the closing date. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends altemative #1: Approve the 90 day extension of closing date and <br />authorize the Chairman to execute the Amendment to Agreement on behalf of the <br />Board. <br />31 <br />
