Major <br /> increases included: $1.7 million in general government expenses mainly due to legal expenses <br /> for the All Aboard Florida train expansion and the Florida Municipal Power Agency electric <br /> issue and $2.4 million in transportation expenses due to road construction and maintenance <br /> projects. These major increases were offset by a $0.9 million decrease in interest and fiscal <br /> charges expenses due to decreased debt service costs for refunded bonds and early payoff in <br /> current and prior fiscal years. <br /> • Governmental activities expenses were credited $4.3 million for their related share of overall <br /> pension expense as calculated by the Florida Retirement System. The reduction in expense was <br /> allocated to the following functions: general government $0.6 million,public safety $3.1 million, <br /> physical environment $0.01 million, transportation $0.2 million, economic environment $0.04 <br /> million, human services $0.01 million, culture and recreation $0.2 million, and court related $0.2 <br /> million. <br /> 1.2 <br />
