Key Planning Factors <br /> (1) Ice — 1 truckload (40,000 lbs, 8 lbs/per) serves 5,000 <br /> people. <br /> (2) Water— 1 truckload (18,000 liters, 3+liters/per) serves <br /> 5,000 people. <br /> (3) MREs — 1 truckload (21,744 ea., 2 ea/per) serves <br /> 10,000 people. <br /> (4) Tarps — 1 truckload (4,400 ea.) serves 4,000 families <br /> with roof damage. <br /> (5) 1 care represents 1 family, or 3 people. <br /> (6) Each car is provided the following: <br /> 1. 2 or 3 bags of ice <br /> 2. 1 case of water (9-12 liters) <br /> 3. 6 MREs <br /> 4. 1 tarp, if they state they have roof damage <br /> d. Concept of Operations: <br /> (1) The county EOC will request through the State EOC, <br /> assistance from the Florida National Guard (ESF #13) <br /> and other agencies (i.e., Florida Division of Forestry) <br /> as needed to establish and support the county PODs. <br /> (2) The county Human Resources Department may be <br /> tasked to provide additional staffing for each POD site <br /> in the county. Other sources of personnel may come <br /> from voluntary agencies, scouts, CERT members, <br /> etc. <br /> (3) Once resources arrive at a POD, they must be <br /> offloaded within four hours. This includes ice. It is <br /> imperative that trucks turn around to pick up <br /> additional resources. <br /> (4) PODs operate only during daylight hours for security <br /> and safety reasons. Once PODs are in full <br /> operations, deliveries to re-supply PODs will be made <br /> during the evening, and staged for morning <br /> distribution.
