individuals, and over 11,000 visits were made to the Drop -In Center, which specifically <br />serves the severe and persistent mentally ill. <br />Annabel Roberston, Executive Director, United Against Poverty (formerly Harvest Food <br />and Outreach Center), 1360 28`h Street, thanked the Board for their support of The Rapid <br />Employment Program (REP) and the Success Training and Employment Programs <br />(STEP), which make up their workforce development programs. She discussed the <br />tremendous success of these programs and the partnerships with approximately 30 <br />employers in the community that assisted 44 families in becoming employed with almost a <br />million dollar impact on wages. <br />Chief Executive Officer Susan Buza, and Community Relations Specialist Kate Woodward, <br />211 Palm Beach/Treasure Coast Helpline, thanked the Board for their continued support <br />and explained that the agency served over 4,000 individuals from Indian River County, and <br />expressed concern about the 73 calls taken from individuals who were suicidal. She stated <br />that the 211 Helpline is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. <br />Daisy Packer, Executive Director, Keep Indian River Beautiful (K.I.R.B.), 1245 35`h <br />Avenue, discussed an 84% increase in recycling programs over the last two years through <br />the store and the Bin Program. She expressed gratitude to the Board, and stated that <br />because of the funds that have been provided and the commitment to recycling in Indian <br />River County, they have been able to provide free bins to the community for the recycling <br />events. <br />QUASI NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATIONS <br />10:30 a.m. <br />• Administrator recommendations for Quasi Non -Profit OrIjanizations: <br />• Senior Resource - $800,000, an increase of $50,000, or 6.7% <br />• Senior Resource Grants - $ -0-, a decrease of $2,931,630 <br />• Gifford Youth Achievement Center - $93,600, an increase of $3,600, or 4.0% <br />• Progressive Civic League - $12,185, same as last year <br />• Humane Society - $395,547, same as last year <br />• Treasure Coast Homeless Services - $15,270, same as last year <br />The total proposed budget for Quasi Non -Profit Agencies is $1,316,602, a decrease of <br />$2,878,030, or (68.6%). <br />Chairman Solari opened the floor for public comment. <br />Chief Executive Officer of the Senior Resource Association Karen Deigl, thanked the <br />Board and Staff for their support throughout the year, and spoke about being on track to <br />provide services to 1.2 million riders on the GoLine this year.
