Gray, JrD� <br />Coastal Engineer <br />SUBJECT: Resolution Requesting Funding Assistance from State of Florida Beach Erosion Control <br />Program — FY 2017/18 <br />DATE: June 23, 2016 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />The State of Florida, Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) requires an annual resolution from <br />local governments requesting funding assistance through the FDEP Beach Erosion Control Program. The <br />Resolution does not specify a specific dollar amount. However, the Resolution enables the Department <br />to consider the County's annual funding request for Fiscal Year 2017/18. For FY 2017/18, staff is <br />requesting State funding assistance for 50 percent of the permit required 2017 post construction <br />monitoring costs for the Sector 3 Beach Restoration Project and for the design and permitting of the <br />Sector 5 Beach Nourishment Project currently underway. <br />FUNDING <br />FDEP funding for Beach Restoration Projects typically requires a local match. The match percentage <br />varies depending upon the characteristics of each project. In the event a match is needed local funding <br />of Beach Restoration includes a portion of Local Option Tourist Tax Revenue as well as allocation of the <br />One Cent Sales Tax. Funding for the Sector 3 project (post construction monitoring) is available and has <br />been budgeted in the Beach Restoration Fund, Sector 3 Beach Restoration Account No.12814472- <br />033490-05054.
