PROCLAMATION <br />National POW/MIA Recognition Day <br />Friday September 16, 2016 <br />WHEREAS, National Prisoner of War/Missing in Action (POW/MIA) Recognition Day was <br />proclaimed by an act of the United States Congress in 1998; and <br />WHEREAS, National POW/MIA Recognition Day is therefore observed by our citizens on the <br />third Friday in September every year, this year falling on September 16, 2016; and <br />WHEREAS. according to the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency there are more than <br />83,000 Americans still unaccounted for from past conflicts; and <br />WHEREAS, the Veterans Council of Indian River County, a local non-profit established by <br />volunteers to support and remember our local veterans, will now present a county -wide re -dedication <br />ceremony at 11:00 AM on September 16 2016 at the Indian River Mall to honor our missing <br />heroes; and <br />WHEREAS, the Veterans Council asks any and all who will join us in respectful remembrance <br />of our veterans, to be found present at the morning ceremony on National POW/MIA Recognition <br />Day. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE INDIAN RIVER COUNTY BOARD OF <br />COUNTY COMMISSIONERS that we do hereby proclaim support of the Veterans Council of Indian <br />River County and of our many veterans who are still prisoners of war or missing in action from current <br />and past conflicts, we encourage all citizens to remember the fallen and the missing, and to <br />participate in this ceremony at the Indian River Mall at 11:00 AM on September 16 2016. <br />Adopted this 13th day of September, 2016 <br />BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />INDIAN RAVER COUNTY, FLORIDA <br />Bob Solari, Chairman <br />/'--_seph L Flescher, ice Chairman <br />G <br />e.sley S.
