DeBraal, Deputy County Attorney <br />Kate Pingolt Cotner, Assistant County Attorney <br />mm <br />TO: Board of County Commis <br />FROM: Dylan Reingold, County Attorney �) Q <br />DATE: February 24, 2014 <br />SUBJECT: City of Vero Beach Electric Utility Authorization to Travel to Tallahassee for Legislative <br />BACKGROUND, <br />On January 21, 2014, the Board of County Commissioners (the "Board") voted to direct the County <br />Attorney's Office to draft a resolution supporting Representative Debbie Mayfield's pending local bill <br />relating to the City of Vero Beach Electric Utility and its utility customers who live outside of the <br />municipal boundaries of the City of Vero Beach. The Board also directed the County Attorney's Office to <br />draft a letter to Florida House of Representatives Speaker Will Weatherford advising Speaker Weatherford <br />that this issue is important to Indian River County, and encouraging him to hold the appropriate <br />workshops on Representative Mayfield's bill. Additionally, the Board directed the County Attorney's <br />Office to seek advice from Ballard Partners, the County's lobbyist, on the matter.
