Indian River County 1 Impact Fee Update Study <br />II. Correctional Facilities <br />Correctional facility impact fees are used to fund capital construction and expansion of <br />services related to land, facilities, and capital equipment required to support the additional <br />correctional facility demand created by new growth. This section presents the results of the <br />correctional facility impact fee update study for the County and will serve as the technical <br />support document for the updated correctional facilities impact fee schedule. <br />There are several major elements associated with the development of the correctional <br />facilities impact fee. These include: <br />• Facility Inventory <br />• Service Area and Population <br />• Level -of -Service <br />• Cost Component <br />• Credit Component <br />• Net Correctional Facilities Impact Cost <br />• Calculated Correctional Facilities Impact Fee Schedule <br />• Affordable Growth Strategy <br />• Staff Recommended Fee Rate <br />• Correctional Facilities Impact Fee Schedule Comparison <br />These various elements are summarized in the remainder of this section, with the result <br />being the calculated correctional facilities impact fee schedule. <br />Facility Inventory <br />The correctional facilities inventory includes the County's jails and other related facilities <br />that are primarily for the provision of corrections and does not include any of the buildings <br />or portions thereof included in the calculation of other impact fees. <br />According to information provided by the County, Indian River County has a total of 258,000 <br />square feet of correctional facility -related space. This includes the square footage of all four <br />phases of the Correctional Facility as well as other related buildings, such as the <br />guardhouses, warehouse visitation building, and maintenance shop.
