• <br />• <br />LAWS OF FLORIDA CHAPTER 29163 <br />(d) Occupational Licenses: To license and regulate the busi- <br />ness, trade, occupation or profession of all classes, or any class <br />of persons, firms or corporations doing business either wholly <br />or in part within the Town, whether licensed by the State, or <br />County, or not. <br />(e) Public Utilities: To acquire, purchase, lease, install or <br />distribute within the said Town limits when deemed necessary, <br />or outside of said limits when deemed necessary, water supply <br />of any kind whatsoever for public use, or for distribution to <br />private users within the corporated limits; to contract with <br />other municipalities, persons, firms or corporations on behalf <br />of the inhabitants of the Town of Indian River Shores for <br />water, electricity, gas, or other public utility; to give, grant or <br />furnish any and all local public services, including electricity, <br />gas, water or transportation, and to charge and collect neces- <br />sary fees or charges therefor at a profit to said Town; to pur- <br />chase, construct, maintain, operate, lease or contract for any <br />public utilities, including, but not limited to, electric light <br />systems and plants, gas plants or water supply, and distribu- <br />tion system therefor; telephone and telegraph systems, ice <br />plants and works, bus or transit systems, radio broadcasting <br />stations, television stations; to establish, impose and enforce <br />rates and charges for supplying such services and conven- <br />iences by the Town to any person, persons, firms or corpora- <br />tions. <br />(f) Franchises: To grant franchises of all kinds for the use <br />of the Town streets, waters and waterways, water systems, <br />public beaches and recreational facilities; provided, that such <br />power with respect to rates and charges for gas or electricity <br />shall not be exercised or be available for exercise in contra- <br />vention of or during the effectiveness of the provisions of <br />Chapter 265.45, Laws of Florida, Acts of 1951, or any other law <br />of the State of Florida, in vesting a State agency or commis- <br />sion with regulatory power over rates and charges for gas or <br />electricity. <br />(g) Zoning: To adopt and enforce for the purpose of pro- <br />moting health, safety, morals and the general welfare of the <br />Town, regulations restricting the height, number of stories <br />and size of buildings and other structures, controlling the den- <br />sity of population and the location and use of buildings, struc- <br />1289 <br />) i4 <br />
