Nixon, P.E., Roadway Production Manager,1�41 <br />SUBJECT: Award of Bid No: 2017009 <br />Stn Street Sidewalk Improvements (58th Avenue to 211t Court) <br />DATE: October 13, 2016 <br />DESCRIPTION AND CONDITIONS <br />On June 21, 2016, the Board of County Commissioners approved a Local Agency Program <br />Agreement FM No. 431733-1-58 / 68-01 with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) <br />for the construction of a 5 -foot wide concrete sidewalk and minor drainage modifications along <br />the north side of 8th Street from 58th Avenue to 21St Court, a length of approximately 2.5 miles. <br />The LAP Grant will provide up to $455,243.00 reimbursement of the eligible construction cost <br />which includes construction engineering inspection (CEI) services. The County will fund the <br />remaining construction cost <br />The bid opening was held on September 14, 2016. Two (2) bids were received and opened. A <br />detailed bid tabulation is on file and available for viewing in the County Engineering Division. <br />Bid totals are as follows: <br />Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc. Vero Beach, Florida $575,858.97 <br />Gibbs & Register, Inc. Winter Garden, Florida $670,555.00 <br />Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc. is considered to be the lowest, responsive, responsible bidder <br />for the project with a bid totaling $575,858.97. Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc., has completed <br />various construction projects for the County and has consistently performed work in a <br />satisfactory manner. Timothy Rose Contracting, Inc. bid of $575,858.97 was above the <br />Engineer's estimate of $489,720.20. <br />FUNDING <br />The federal funds appropriated for this FDOT LAP grant are in the amount of $406,467.00 for <br />construction and $48,776.00 for construction engineering inspection (CEI) services totaling <br />$455,243.00. Funding is budgeted and available from Optional Sales Tax Account No. <br />31521441-066510-13006, 81h Street Sidewalk (58th Avenue to 21s' Court).
