Subject: Subsurface Soil Exploration and Geotechnical Engineering Evaluation 13th Street SW Bridge at 58th Avenue IRC Project No. 0530-B Indian River County, Florida Gentlemen: May 25, 2007 File No. 07-5535 As requested and authorized by you, we have completed a subsurface soil exploration and geotechnical engineering evaluation for the subject project. The purposes of performing this exploration were to evaluate the general subsurface conditions at the location of the proposed bridge that is to span the existing Sub -Lateral B-8 Canal at 13th Street SW and to provide recommendations for site preparation and foundation support. Our work included Standard Penetration Test (SPT) borings, laboratory testing and engineering analysis. This report documents our findings and presents our geotechnical engineering recommendations. SITE LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION The subject site consists of the existing 13"" Street SW Bridge over the Sub -Lateral 8-8 Canal in Indian River County, Florida (Sections 28 and 29, Township 33 South, Range 39 East). A Site Location Map has been included as Figure 1. The site location is also shown superimposed on the 1949 Oslo, Florida USGS quadrangle map (photorevised 1983) presented as Figure 2. The proposed bridge structure will replace the existing 13th Street SW Bridge at 58th Avenue.
