During the fiscal year 2015-16, there were 8,513 children served. The total actual dollars spent <br />was $841,965. The cost per child was only $98.90. Additionally, 1,102 parents were directly <br />served through educational/instructional programs <br />NEEDS ASSESSMENT <br />Program Descriptions. Each program funded in 2015-16 funding year has two descriptions, <br />the Taxonomy Description and a general description. The Taxonomy description is from the <br />Taxonomy of Human Services, a standardized national classification system that indexes <br />community resources based on the services they provide and the target populations they serve. <br />The Taxonomy Description eliminates duplication of services issues. For the purposes of <br />brevity, the secondary Taxonomy Description has been shortened. The general description <br />adds information specific to each program. <br />Cost Per Child: The Children's Services Advisory Committee funds a wide variety of programs <br />addressing children's needs in Indian River County. Therefore, it should be understood that the <br />following variables affect the average cost per child. <br />• Some programs are provided for individuals, others are for groups. <br />• Some programs require highly trained professionals, while other can utilize volunteers. <br />• Some programs are residential or home visit programs; while others are day programs. <br />• Some of the programs are single source funding and others are shared funding. <br />• Some programs are for one occurrence, while others serve one child the entire school <br />year. <br />2015-16 PROGRAMS <br />BIG BROTHERS & BIG SISTERS OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />"Children of Promise" (formerly "Children of Prisoners") (COP) <br />(Statistics as of 09/30/2016) <br />Grant: $15,000.00 <br />Funds Used as of 09/30/2016: $15,000.00 <br />Total Children Served as of 09/30/2016: 79 <br />Total Adults Served as of 09/30/2016: 79 <br />Taxonomy #: PH150.550-10 <br />Program Description: This community-based program provides one-on-one mentoring for <br />children whose family member(s) are incarcerated in state or federal prison. <br />P165 <br />
