Grant: $12,000 <br />Funds used as of 9/30/16: $12,000 <br />Total Infants served as of 9/30/16: 692 <br />Cost per child: 10/1/2015-9/30/2016 cost per infant $17.34 <br />Taxonomy Number: PH -6100.1800 <br />Program Description: TLC Newborn program provides educational and supportive services for <br />new parents or parents who are expecting a child to prepare them on an emotional and practical <br />level for the impact that a newborn will have upon their lives and relationships. Included are <br />practical information about the care of a new infant such as breastfeeding, bathing techniques, <br />safe sleep habits, feeding cycles and infant and childhood illnesses and later, walking, talking, <br />toilet training and other developmental skills, suggestions for sibling preparation, and other <br />techniques for facilitating the addition of the newborn to the family. <br />Collaboration: Indian River Medical Center, Partners in Women's Health, Belly Beautiful, <br />Kindergarten Readiness Collaborative <br />Goals/ Outcomes Report (October 1, 2015 -September 30, 2016) <br />Goal #1: TLC Newborn program will achieve at least 40% of the mothers enrolled FY15/16 that <br />initiated breastfeeding at birth will still be breastfeeding at 6 months as reported by parent. <br />Outcome: 87% of mothers contacted were still breastfeeding at 6 months <br />Goal #2: At least 90% of parents in the TLC program will increase the number of words spoken <br />to their infant in the first 12 months. <br />Outcome: 88% of parents established a regular reading time with their baby <br />Goal #3: 100% of parents will follow effective safe sleep practices to prevent accidental injury or <br />infant death. <br />Outcome: 97% of parents describe their infants sleeping area and behaviors to <br />counselor in detail according to CDC recommendations <br />Goal #4: 90% of parents will articulate use of appropriate emotional/social responses with infant <br />to build a foundation of trust and security in child. <br />Outcome:100% of parents articulate being able to understand specific baby <br />communication with appropriate positive responses. <br />HEALTHY START OF IRC <br />P182 <br />
