• Teachers continue to utilize COR Advantage and the individualized activities to <br />teach the kids. All children showed gains in overall development. <br />• Parents continue to promote early literacy with their children by reading books. <br />Particularly, teachers are promoting rhyming books that research shows will help <br />kids read at grade level by 3rd grade. Several parents have also participated in the <br />Abriendo Puertas program that also promotes reading, literacy and advocacy. <br />• The center has maintained accreditation through a nationally recognized <br />accrediting agency, National Accreditation Commission (NAC) since May 21st, <br />2015. The first annual report was submitted on May 15, 2016. As a result of NAC, <br />the center has formalized several procedures that were already in place, such as <br />documentation of new parent orientation and receipt of center policies and <br />procedures. Results from the PQA are used to plan teacher trainings. In addition, <br />one infant/toddler teacher has completed the Smart Horizons program and <br />received her FCCPC during this quarter. <br />SUBSTANCE AWARENESS CENTER OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY <br />Re -Direct Program <br />(2015-16) <br />Grant: $100,000.00 <br />Funds used: $100,000.00 <br />Cost per Child: $584.80 <br />Total number children served : 171 <br />Total number parents served: 250 <br />Program Description: The Center follows science -based best practices and modalities, which <br />are designed to help engage youth and families in positive change: utilizing non -judgmental, <br />motivational and proven effective approaches for successful outcomes. ReDirect targets <br />adolescents ages 12-18 with substance use and co-occurring disorders. The ReDirect program <br />proposes to re -direct and motivate adolescents and their parents towards a substance free, pro - <br />social lifestyle. Youth engage in individual, family, and group sessions. In addition, the program <br />serves parents with a 6 week evidenced based parent program. <br />GOALS/OUTCOMES REPORT <br />Goal #1: 80% of program participant will demonstrate reduced use of ATOD as evidenced by <br />negative drug test results during the course of the program and as a requirement for successful <br />program completion. <br />Outcome: 100% of the successful completers demonstrated reduced ATOD as evidenced <br />by negative drug tests. <br />P187 <br />
