through music education: tutor other children and senior citizens; build performance skills; earn <br />money by tutoring and performing and budgeting those funds; building confidence and self- <br />esteem through performances and tutoring; cultural and social awareness and leadership skills <br />through community service, workshops, and student meetings. <br />The program is offered (free) scholarship with a $10 monthly investment from parents for <br />instrument rental. We refrain from offering the program totally free to help create a shift in <br />consciousness from "free" to "scholarship with personal investment." <br />Collaboration: Gifford Youth Achievement Center, IRC Aquatic Center, The Indian River State <br />University Trio Upward Bound in Indian River County. <br />GOALS/OUTCOMES REPORT <br />Goal #1: 75% of Beginning students enrolled and who stay in the program for 1 year, will learn <br />to read and play beginner level music and perform with the class in the mid -year recital or in the <br />annual concert, as measured by placing their names on the printed program with the name of <br />the group song(s). <br />Outcome: 100% of beginning students enrolled in the 2015/2016 year learned to read <br />and play music at a their respective level as measured by their ability to perform at the <br />November 2015 Annual Concert with their names on the printed program, as part of the <br />ensemble. <br />Goal #2: 75% of 2nd Year Students enrolled and who continue in the program for an additional <br />year, will increase their ability by 100% to read and play music at the Advanced Beginner's <br />Level, and perform a solo in the next recital or concert, as measured by placing their names on <br />the printed program with the name of their performance piece. <br />Outcome :Approximately 95% of 2nd year students enrolled in the 2015/2016 year <br />learned to read and play music at a their respective level as measured by their ability to <br />perform at the November 2015 Annual Concert with their names on the printed program, <br />as part of the ensemble or as a soloist. <br />Goal #3: 60% of intermediate and advanced students enrolled in advanced performance class <br />for at least one year and who pass peer group (1St String Professional Performers) observation <br />requirements, will develop skills and improve by 50% in their ability to serve as professional <br />tutors and professional performers and earn a stipend for their services, as measured by being <br />invited by GYO's 1St String Team to perform with the 1St String and/or given tutor assignments <br />by Music Director. <br />Outcome: Approximately 65% of students enrolled as Advanced Performers performed <br />at 3 concerts during December 2015: Hibiscus Children's Home Society, Homeless <br />Family Center, and the Annual Concert. 80% of them served as tutors. <br />P191 <br />
