Dudeck Jr., P.E. <br />Traffic Engineer <br />SUBJECT: License Agreement Between FEC Railway and <br />Indian River County for Installation of <br />Interconnect Conduit at US 1 and Highland Drive <br />R.R. Crossing <br />RE: Letter from M.O. Bagley to Michael S. Dudeck <br />Dated August 5, 1992 <br />DATE: August 10, 1992 <br />In order to complete the Traffic Signal Installation for the <br />US 1 and Highland Drive Intersection, the Traffic <br />Engineering Division has to have a contractor jack and bore <br />a 6" rigid metal sleeve under the FEC Railroad tracks in the <br />railroad right-of-way. <br />The FEC Railway Company will accomplish the final <br />connections to provide the proper R.R. Pre-emption for the <br />Traffic Signals being installed. <br />Completion of this work will secure the electrical <br />connections for the pre-emption as well as future <br />interconnect provisions for including a future Old Dixie <br />Highway/Highland Drive Traffic Signal into our system. <br />ALTERNATIVES AND ANALYSIS <br />The agreement is a standard- FEC License Agreement for <br />Signal Pro-emption Interconnect at an existing public <br />crossing. The County is obligated td: <br />1) Pay all costs of supervision, labor and material <br />incurred by FEC Railway. <br />2) Pay to upgrade and maintain the crossing as <br />necessary. <br />3) Pay an annual fee of $50. <br />RECOMMMATIONS AND FUNDING <br />It is recoraiiended that the Chairman be authorized to execute <br />the License Agreement on behalf of the County. Funding for <br />maintenance shall be from the budgeted Traffic Engineering <br />Accounts. Funding for installation will be from account <br />101-165-541-067.28. <br />ON MOTION by Commissioner Bird, SECONDED by <br />Commissioner Scurlock, the Board unanimously <br />approved and authorized the Chairman to execute the <br />FEC License Agreement for Signal Pre-emption <br />Interconnect, as recommended by staff. <br />PARTIALLY EXECUTED COPY OF SAID AGREEMENT <br />IS ON FILE IN THE OFFICE OF CLERK TO THE BOARD <br />53 <br />BOOK PA.; f e�`'I <br />AUG 1 N9 <br />
