William H. "Chicken Shack" Wilson, Jr. <br />William "Chicken Shack" Wilson, Jr. is a native of Tallahassee, Florida. He graduated from <br />Lincoln High School (1957). Earned both his bachelor's (1961) and master's (1967) degrees <br />from Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, Florida. He accepted a position as physical <br />education teacher and assistance football coach at Carter Parramore High School in Quincy, <br />Florida, in 1962. During his tenure at Carter Parramore High, he organized the school's first <br />track and field team and was appointed the Head track coach. <br />In 1969 he was recruited and relocated to Vero Beach, Florida and served as Head football <br />coach, and assistant basketball coach at Gifford High School, while at Gifford High School, <br />he once again organized a track and field team and was the team's first head coach. <br />"Coach" Wilson", as he is affectionately called by hundreds of former students, athletics <br />and peers, was reassigned to Vero Beach High School in 1969 and there he served as the <br />Chairman of the Physical Education Department, Assistant Football Coach , Head track and <br />field coach and Driver Education teacher, he continued in this capacity until his retirement <br />in 1997. After retiring from teaching he continued his coaching career at Sebastian River <br />High School as an assistant football and track coach and fully retired in 2013. <br />Coach Wilson is the recipient of numerous awards and honors. He was named "Teacher of <br />the Year" in 1992. Received fifteen (15) Track and Field Coach of the Year awards. Thirteen <br />(13) Track Conference Championships. Twenty -Two (22) District Track Championships. <br />Seven (7) Regional Championships. Two (2) Track State Championships, he was inducted in <br />?3A -z <br />
