This letter <br />presents thicknesses of the in-place asphalt pavement and descriptions of the underlying <br />components encountered. <br />A. PROJECT INFORMATION <br />The subject roadway section is approximately three miles of four -lane (divided) flexible pavement <br />extending southwest to northeast. The County is planning to rehabilitate the roadway and desires <br />to know the composition of the existing pavement section. We understand full depth reclamation <br />is anticipated DUNKELBERGER was retained to core through the pavement and measure the <br />thickness of the asphalt, base course, and subgrade layers to a depth of approximately two feet <br />below the pavement surface, and determine the AASHTO (American Association of State <br />Highway and Transportation Officials) soil classification of the embankment material where it was <br />encountered. <br />A total of 20 core locations were selected by representatives of the County. The locations were <br />field marked by County surveyors and are depicted on Attachment A, Core Location Plan.
