Board of County Commissioners <br />Meeting Minutes - Final February 21, 2017 <br />Chairman Flescher discussed the renaming of Gifford Park and Recreational <br />Complex as the "Victor Hart, Sr. Community Enhancement Complex", and <br />solicited opinions regarding the new name from the Board. <br />Commissioner Solari expressed his gratitude to Mr. Hart for being what he felt <br />was one of the finest members of the community, and his pleasure to name <br />Gifford Park and Recreational Complex as the Victor Hart, Sr. Community <br />Enhancement Complex. <br />Accompanied by family members, Victor Hart, Sr. gave a brief statement about <br />dedicating his life to Indian River County, and expressed his humble thanks. <br />Wilfred Hart, on behalf of the Hart family, as well as Tony Brown, Freddie <br />Woolfork, Deputy Teddy Floyd, and Valerie Brant -Wilson spoke about their <br />memories of Mr. Hart, Sr., about his gracious character, and expressed gratitude <br />for dedicating the park in his honor. <br />A motion was made by Commissioner Solari, seconded by Chairman Flescher, to <br />rename the Gifford Park and Recreational Complex as the Victor Hart, Sr. <br />Community Enhancement Complex. The motion carried by the following vote: <br />Aye: 5 - Chairman Flescher, Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, <br />Commissioner Solari, and Commissioner Zorc <br />B. Commissioner Peter D. Emergency Services District <br />B. Solid Waste Disposal District <br />The Board reconvened as the Board of Commissioners of the Solid Waste <br />Disposal District. The minutes will be approved under an upcoming Solid <br />Waste Disposal District meeting. <br />15.6.1 17-0195 Ninth Amendment to Republic Services for Contract Renewal <br />Recommended Action: SWDD staff recommends that its Board Approve the Ninth Amendment to <br />Republic Services as a contract renewal of the Solid Waste Operations and <br />Maintenance contract for an additional period of seven (7) years beginning <br />Indian River County Florida Page 13 <br />
