Board of Commissioners SWDD Meeting Minutes-Final February 21,2017 <br /> 15. SPECIAL DISTRICTS AND BOARDS <br /> A. Emergency Services District <br /> B. Solid Waste Disposal District <br /> The Board reconvened as the Board of Commissioners of the Solid Waste <br /> Disposal District. The minutes will be approved under an upcoming Solid <br /> Waste Disposal District meeting. <br /> 15.B.1 17-0195 Ninth Amendment to Republic Services for Contract Renewal <br /> Recommended Action: SWDD staff recommends that its Board Approve the Ninth Amendment to <br /> Republic Services as a contract renewal of the Solid Waste Operations and <br /> Maintenance contract for an additional period of seven(7)years beginning <br /> January 1, 2018 through December 31,2024, at the negotiated rate of$13.25 <br /> per ton for the Class 1 landfill to begin on January 1, 2018 and a cost of <br /> $2,974,004.79 for the non-Class 1 landfill services, and Authorize the Chairman <br /> to execute the same, as presented. <br /> Attachments: Staff Report <br /> Ninth Amendment to Republic Services for Contract Renewal <br /> Replacement Pages: Ninth Amendment-Minor Changes Highlighted <br /> Vice Chairman O'Bryan commended Republic Services of Florida, LP <br /> (Republic Services)and staff for their cooperation in drafting the Agreement, as <br /> it would save the Solid Waste Disposal District(SWDD) approximately <br /> $276,000 per year. Commissioners Flescher and Solari made comments about <br /> the operations of the convenience centers and thanked the employees for <br /> providing good customer service. <br /> Joanne Stanley,Municipal Services Manager, Republic Services, and Vincent <br /> Burke,Director of Utility Services,because of the time certain Executive <br /> Session,remained on standby to answer questions in lieu of providing their <br /> presentations. <br /> A motion was made by Commissioner Solari,seconded by Chairman Flescher,to <br /> approve staffs recommendation.The motion carried by the following vote: <br /> Aye: 4— Chairman Flescher,Vice Chairman O'Bryan, Commissioner Adams, and <br /> Commissioner Solari <br /> Nay: 1 - Commissioner Zorc <br /> The Board of Commissioners adjourned the Solid Waste Disposal District <br /> meeting at 9:58 a.m., and reconvened as the Board of County Commissioners <br /> of the Regular Meeting. <br /> Indian River County Florida Page 2 <br />
