W <br />PROCLAMATION <br />DESIGNATING APRIL 2 THROUGH APRIL 8, 2017 AS <br />CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK <br />WHEREAS, victims of crime across America need and deserve support and assistance to help <br />them cope with the consequences of crime; and, <br />WHEREAS, national Crime Victims' Rights Week offers us all the opportunity to promote <br />Strength In Unity in helping victims and survivors of crime through a wide range of supportive <br />services offered by over 10,000 community and justice system -based programs, and the more <br />than 32,000 federal and state statutes that define and protect their rights; and, <br />WHEREAS, by being united against crime and for victim's rights and services we gain strength <br />as individuals, as communities, and as a nation as a whole, and offer strength to victims who <br />seek to recover in the aftermath of crime; and, <br />WHEREAS, America has joined together annually each April since 1981 to recognize the needs <br />and rights of crime victims and survivors during National Crime Victims' Rights Week. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT PROCLAIMED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS <br />OF INDIAN RIVER COUNTY, FLORIDA that April 2 through April 8, 2017 be designated as <br />CRIME VICTIMS' RIGHTS WEEK in Indian River County, and the Board honors crime victims <br />and those who serve them during this week and throughout the year. <br />Adopted this 21st day of March, 2017.
