STATE OF FLORIDA <br />OFFICE OF THE GOVERNOR <br />EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 17-120 <br />(Emergency Management/Wildfires) <br />WHEREAS, much of Florida, including Central Florida and South Florida, is <br />experiencing significant drought conditions; and <br />WHEREAS, the Keetch-Byram Drought Index (KBDI) average for the State is <br />currently 338 (0 represents saturated soil and vegetation conditions; 800 represents extremely <br />dry soil and vegetation conditions), with the highest values, over 600, concentrated in Central <br />and South Florida; and <br />WHEREAS, according to, the U.S. Drought Monitor, moderate to severe drought <br />conditions are expanding across Central and South Florida and abnormally dry conditions exist <br />across Northeast Florida and these conditions are likely to worsen over the next several weeks; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, currently, the Florida Forest Service has advised there are currently 107 <br />active wildfires burning across the state which are affecting 23,827 acres of wildlands; and <br />WHEREAS, there has been large fire activity in Polk County, County Road 630 <br />wildfire, that has burned 5,500 acres and destroyed twelve homes and is still active; and <br />WHEREAS, a large wildfire has occurred in Collier County, Lee Williams Road <br />wildfire, that has burned 7,230 acres and destroyed four homes; and <br />WHEREAS, a large wildfire has occurred in Marion County, NE 212 Road wildfire, <br />that hasburned 700 acres and destroyed one home; and <br />WHEREAS, a large wildfire has occurred in Nassau County, Garfield Road wildfire, <br />P29 <br />
