Zito, Assistant County Administrator/ General Services Director <br />From: Michael Redstone, Recreation Manager <br />Subject: Request for Approval to Submit Make A Splash Grant Letter of Agreement <br />DESCRIPTION <br />The Indian River County Recreation Department Aquatic Division has become a Chartered USA <br />Swimming Club. This was achieved this past year under the direction of Aquatic Manager David <br />Smith. Becoming a Chartered Club opened opportunities for the Recreation Department to <br />further our mission of making our Indian River County citizens "water safe ". The Indian River <br />County Recreation Division, also now qualifies to apply for USA Swimming Foundation Grants. <br />Staff applied for a 2017 "Make a Splash" Grant. There were 200 applications nationwide and <br />Indian River County was one of seventy-one grants that were funded in the amount of $3,000. <br />This grant requires no match from the County. With this grant funding from the USA <br />Swimming Foundation, the Indian River County Recreation Department will be able to provide <br />more quality, multi-level learn -to -swim programs. The lessons will expand opportunities for at- <br />risk.students to learn to swim and use the sport of swimming to expand fitness and recreational <br />opportunities. <br />FUNDING <br />No matching funds are required <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends the acceptance of the $3,000.00 grant from the USA SWIMMING <br />FOUNDATION and authorize the Chairman to sign the attached Letter of Agreement. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Letter of Agreement <br />Consumer's Certificate of Exemption <br />@BCL@6005D870 <br />P113 <br />
