Brown, County Administrator <br />THROUGH: John King, Director of Emergency Services <br />FROM: Brian Burkeen, Assistant Chief <br />DATE: April 27, 2017 <br />SUBJECT: Affiliation Agreement between Eastern Florida State College and Indian <br />River County Emergency Services District <br />It is respectfully requested that the information contained herein be given formal consideration by the <br />Emergency Services Board of Commissioners at the next scheduled meeting. <br />DESCRIPTION: <br />Indian River County Department of Emergency Services is requesting to enter into an affiliation <br />agreement for the purpose of providing education oversight .as it relates to preceptor mentoring <br />with Eastern Florida State College. Indian River County Emergency Services District currently <br />provides services for paramedic students from other training facilities to ride with experienced <br />paramedics for the purposes of training and education. Indian River County Fire Rescue hires from <br />an applicant testing and eligibility list and a majority of the time these individuals come from local <br />schools. Numerous applicants (local and non -local) receive education from Eastern Florida State <br />College and we have hired many of these students into our workforce. <br />FUNDING: <br />There are no funding requirements for this item. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the Affiliation Agreement between Indian River County Emergency <br />Services District and Eastern Florida State College. <br />ATTACHMENTS: <br />Two Original Copies of the Affiliation Agreement <br />P136 <br />
